Exporting an Audacity Project

Audacity files can only be opened in Audactiy, so while you're working on a project, you should first save it within Audacity before your export it to share it publicly.

Saving an Audacity Project

Click File > Save Project > Save Project As
A warning will pop up letting you know that if you want to be able to listen to the audio, you'll have to export it in another file format. Click "OK"
The dialog box to save the project on your device will pop up, so title the project and save to a location where both the project file and project reference folder will be located.
Here’s what the project file and folder look like while the project is open (when you’ve saved your project and then closed it, the “Test.aup3-wal” disappears). To begin working on the project again, just click on the “Test.aup3” project file:

Exporting an Audacity Project

Click File > Export > Export as MP3
Title the file and click save
A file metadata settings box will appear, you can leave it blank and click "OK," but if you would like to embed information into the file, you can click the cells, type your text, and click "OK."
